Things to do in Naukuchiataal

Adventure Activities

Like any other hilly region, Naukuchiatal also offers umpteen opportunities to trek through jungles and orchards. Starting from the lake, different treks are organized to Jandhidhar and Junglia gaon, which are approximately 8 kms from Naukuchiatal. These treks also offer the chance to savour the abundance of flora and fauna
It's always better to be on the ground and wishing you were flying in the sky, than wishing for the ground when you are up there...the higher we rise, the smaller we appear to those who have no idea about flying".

Within all of us is a varying amount of space substance. We are too busy to notice it...and it’s stronger in those who want to fly. It is highly responsible for that desire to fly like a bird and explore the undefined boundaries of our origin. In Naukuchiatal, all of us are very lucky to slip into those wings and fly high like a bird, touch the clouds, and be as high as the mountains!!! Pandegaon, only 4 kms from The Lake Pleasant Cottage is the 'take off" point for Paragliding in Naukuchiatal. You do not have an option of a "Solo Flight" but the pilots are well trained to give you the experience of flying "high AND alone" in the beautiful skies of Naukuchiatal. The perfect time/season to do Paragliding in Naukuchiatal is March - June and October - December. Our advice is that you wear a track suite and sneakers while doing Paragliding. Listen to the instructions carefully and that's it...The rest will be handled by the pilot who will navigate the winds and give you a "Life is Beautiful" experience.
Mountain biking is all about speed, control and thrill and is one of the latest ways of exploring and discovering new vistas of the Himalayan landscape. The rugged terrain and steep slopes, though risky at times, provide great mountain biking experience in Uttarakhand. The cycle trails in this region are best traversed between October and December. In India, this sport is still in its nascent stage, surviving on some financial support from the government. Blessed with rare and diverse flora and fauna, Uttarakhand is an ideal place to develop adventure sports and eco-tourism. After paragliding, mountain biking is the second most popular adventure sport in the state. The sport attracts many national and international tourists and adventure sports enthusiasts, which in turn boosts tourism activities in the state. It is a belief that in a few years, Uttarakhand is bound to become the future hub for mountain biking in Asia. Mountain biking and cycling can be great ways to explore the towns and villages that fringe the foothills of the Himalayas. It also gives tourists the opportunity to understand the challenges that mountains have in store for them.
For proficient horse riders, Naukuchiatal offers some challenging trails to groom their skills. But here, a novice can also make a move to enjoy horse riding without any ado.
A pedal boat ride on the cold shimmering waters of Naukuchiatal is a surreal experience and it is highly likely that your mind would wander away amidst the gorgeous waterscape. One can also canoe or kayak to row away into any of the secluded corners of the lake. The reflection of the trees and hills on the lake make a lovely frame and the lake gets wrapped in mist very often. A beautiful frame of the lake spreads out as you move away from it. The lake is also known for its unique mystery. The locals claim that only eight corners can be seen despite the fact that it has nine corners. A horse ride along the periphery of the Naukuchiatal Lake is another way to explore the place. A nature walk early in the morning through the nearby villages is quite refreshing. Carry binoculars as you are likely to spot a macaque or a barking deer graze by. Blooming flowers and swooping birds are ubiquitous on the nature trail, not to forget the ever smiling villagers. One also gets an aerial view of the enchanting Naukuchiatal Lake during the walk. With chirping birds and seeping morning rays, the numerous open fields and patches of forest are delight to walk through
